Seeking Graduate for Teaching Assistant role

Graduate Teaching Assistant position

Immediate start, working full-time on a long term basis

Key Stage 2

The Head Teacher of an Ofsted-graded 'GOOD' primary school located in Darwen is seeking a university graduate to work alongside and provide specialist support to a Year 4 child with behavioural difficulties. The role is to start as soon as possible; the working day is from 08:45 until 15:30. The vacancy has arisen due to a recent resignation; therefore, although the role is initially temporary, it is possible that the school will offer a school contract to the right person. Situated on the outskirts of Darwen town centre, this primary school is one-form entry with the majority of pupils arriving from White British backgrounds. The proportion of pupils who have special educational needs is above the national average, as is the proportion of disadvantaged pupils. Children who attend are proud of their school and the work that they do. Staff lead by example and are ambitious for each and every pupil.

If you are interested in this Teaching Assistant position and would like to be considered for the role, please submit your CV via the "Apply Now" link or call Amy in the Teaching Personnel Lancashire Primary Branch for further information.

If you are qualified with a degree in psychology or in education with a SEN specialism, then this could be the ideal role for you! You will work closely alongside the Special Needs Co-ordinator and Class Teacher to provide specialist one-to-one support to a lower Key Stage 2 children with Autism and ADHD.

The role is to support the pupil with their learning across the curriculum using an approach that suits them. They require high levels of encouragement and a good relationship with their support assistant is essential. Previous experience of working in school is desirable; however, if you've worked with primary age children in a similar capacity, we welcome your application.
