SEMH Teacher – Secondary Pupil Referral Unit (Salford Area)

Teaching Personnel is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated SEMH Teacher to join a dynamic Secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Salford. This is a rewarding opportunity to help students re-engage with education and unlock their potential.

In this role, you will support learners with a range of SEMH needs, including challenging behaviour, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD), and mental health conditions. Your expertise and commitment will play a vital part in creating a positive, inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the needs of pupils with SEMH challenges.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes emotional regulation and learning.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to support pupils in overcoming barriers to education.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure holistic support for each student.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Provide pastoral care and guidance, fostering resilience and confidence in learners.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (essential).
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs or in alternative provisions.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and a proactive, resilient attitude.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • Valid Right to Work in the UK and two professional references covering the last 24 months.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
