We are working on behalf of an outstanding and highly respected secondary school in West Sussex to recruit an enthusiastic Science Teacher who is ready to step into a Head of Year role from September 2026.
This is an attractive opportunity for a passionate classroom practitioner who is motivated by student outcomes, strong pastoral leadership, and working within a supportive, values‑led school community.
The Opportunity
This role combines high‑quality classroom teaching with impactful pastoral leadership. You will:
- Teach Science across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Join a well‑established, collaborative science department with expertise across all three disciplines
- Take responsibility as Head of Year, shaping culture, behaviour, attendance and student success within your year group
- Benefit from structured pastoral systems and clear leadership support

Who We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will be:
- A qualified secondary Science teacher with strong subject knowledge (QTS essential)
- Passionate about pastoral care and supporting young people beyond the classroom
- Organised, resilient and confident in managing a year group
- Keen to develop within a school that values long‑term staff development and retention

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
