Science Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Levenshulme

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school in Levenshulme. This is a full-time position starting immediately and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent role based on performance.

Role Overview

This role is ideal for a recent science graduate who is passionate about education and looking to gain hands-on classroom experience. It is particularly suited to individuals considering a career in teaching, tutoring, or educational support. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and students, providing targeted academic support across biology, chemistry, and physics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing one-to-one and small group support to students who need extra help in science subjects.

• Assisting teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons, ensuring all students can access the curriculum.

• Helping to set up and facilitate science experiments and practical demonstrations.

• Supporting students with exam preparation, coursework, and revision techniques.

• Encouraging students to develop an enthusiasm for STEM subjects and scientific inquiry.

• Assisting with classroom management, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.

• Working with the science department and SENCO to provide intervention sessions for students requiring additional support.

• Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers to help tailor lesson plans.

Candidate Requirements:

• A degree in a science-related subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline – 2:2 or above preferred).

• A strong passion for science education and student development.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain scientific concepts clearly.

• A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting students with different learning needs.

• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with teachers and students.

• Previous experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, classroom support) is desirable but not essential.

Salary & Benefits:

• Weekly pay between £419.25 - £500, depending on experience and responsibilities.
