Science Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Levenshulme
Teaching Personnel is seeking a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school in Levenshulme. This is a full-time position starting immediately and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent role based on performance.
Role Overview
This role is ideal for a recent science graduate who is passionate about education and looking to gain hands-on classroom experience. It is particularly suited to individuals considering a career in teaching, tutoring, or educational support. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and students, providing targeted academic support across biology, chemistry, and physics.
Key Responsibilities:

Providing one-to-one and small group support to students who need extra help in science subjects.

Assisting teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons, ensuring all students can access the curriculum.

Helping to set up and facilitate science experiments and practical demonstrations.

Supporting students with exam preparation, coursework, and revision techniques.

Encouraging students to develop an enthusiasm for STEM subjects and scientific inquiry.

Assisting with classroom management, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Working with the science department and SENCO to provide intervention sessions for students requiring additional support.

Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers to help tailor lesson plans.
Candidate Requirements:

A degree in a science-related subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline – 2:2 or above preferred).

A strong passion for science education and student development.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain scientific concepts clearly.

A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting students with different learning needs.

The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with teachers and students.
-
Previous experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, classroom support) is desirable but not essential.
Salary & Benefits:

Weekly pay between £419.25 - £500, depending on experience and responsibilities.
