Exciting Opportunity for Science Graduate to Kickstart Teaching Career!

Location: Southampton

Position Type: Full-time, Contract (Spring Term, with potential extension to Autumn Term)

Position Overview: The school is currently seeking a passionate Science Graduate to join its team and support the Science Department in teaching the national curriculum at Key Stages 3 and 4. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career in teaching but may not yet be fully qualified. The school will provide comprehensive support and guidance to help candidates develop their skills and gain valuable experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Science Department in delivering engaging lessons and facilitating practical experiments.
  • Supporting students in understanding scientific concepts and principles.
  • Providing personalized support to students through one-on-one and small group sessions.
  • Collaborating with experienced teachers to create lesson plans and educational resources.
  • Participating in departmental meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Contributing to extracurricular science activities and events organised by the school.

Requirements:

  • A degree in a science-related field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
  • A strong passion for teaching and a genuine interest in supporting students' learning journeys.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in approach to work.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to pursue initial teacher training.
