School-Based SEN Support Practitioner

Location: Bath (BA3)
Hours: Full Time, Monday–Friday
Salary: £92.65 – £105 per day


About the Role

We’re looking for a caring, patient and motivated individual to join a welcoming school community in Bath (BA3) as a School‑Based SEN Support Practitioner.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with a wide range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including communication needs, learning difficulties, sensory needs, and social‑emotional challenges. You do not need formal qualifications... just the right mindset, a willingness to learn, and experience from people‑focused environments such as care, youth work, psychology, sports coaching, mentoring or education studies.


What You’ll Be Doing

As a School‑Based SEN Support Practitioner, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with diverse SEN needs
  • Help implement personalised learning plans and behaviour or support strategies
  • Assist with emotional regulation, communication, engagement and confidence‑building
  • Support sensory needs and structured routines where required
  • Create a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment for all learners
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and wider support teams
  • Encourage independence, resilience and positive progress for each pupil

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for individuals who have:

  • Patience, empathy, resilience and a positive, nurturing attitude
  • Experience in care, youth support, psychology, education studies, sports coaching, playwork or other people‑focused roles
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
  • The ability to remain calm, consistent and reassuring in challenging moments
  • A willingness to learn, reflect and develop within the role
  • Reliability and a proactive approach to teamwork

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
