Job Title: School Administrative Assistant (Temp to Perm)

Location: Leyland, Lancashire
Salary: £13.75 per hour
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Working Hours: Full-time, Term Time Only

About the Role:

We are seeking a proactive and compassionate School Administrative Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in Leyland. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of the school's administrative functions, supporting both staff and students in a nurturing environment tailored for young people aged 10–19 with diverse educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the first point of contact at the school's reception, managing telephone and face-to-face enquiries with professionalism and empathy.
  • Handle general administrative tasks, including photocopying, filing, emailing, and completing routine forms.
  • Word process school documentation, such as letters, reports, and schedules.
  • Accurately input information into databases and maintain both manual and computerized records.
  • Sort and distribute internal and external mail.
  • Assist with basic bookkeeping, including collecting monies and recording funds for school-related activities.
  • Support the leadership team with scheduling meetings, appointments, and other operational tasks.

About You:

  • Previous experience in a school administrative role or similar office environment.
  • Proficient in IT, including MS Office and school management software (experience with SIMS is advantageous).
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • A caring and empathetic approach when interacting with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.
