Job description

Do you have a background supporting young people with mental health difficulties? Are you looking to transfer your skills into an education setting? A mental health provision in Bury is looking to employ a support worker in a teaching assistant capacity as soon as possible. The provision are looking to employ a support worker with experience supporting young people with mental health difficulties to work within their 11-18 years adolescent unit. The unit provides in-patient care, treatment and support for people who have been affected by drug and alcohol abuse, self harm, abuse and crime. The young people do display challenging behaviours as a result of their needs, primarily a reluctance to engage and verbal/physical aggression when in crisis.

The ideal Teaching assistant will have experience supporting young people who display extremely challenging behaviours ideally within an education setting. Teaching assistants with experience in the care sector will also be considered.
