Religious Education Teacher

Are you a Religious Education teacher looking for work in September?

Do you have experience covering/teaching other subject areas within a Humanities department as well as Religious Education?

If so, please see details of the full-time Religious Education teaching role that is set to begin on a temporary basis from September 2019.

  • Full time Religious Education Teacher required ahead of the new academic year (September 2019)
  • Temporary position in the first instance with a view to permanent employment.
  • Pay in line with MPS/UPS dependant on experience (£23,720 - £39,406)
  • Applicants must hold QTS and a PGCE/Equivalent specialising in secondary Religious Education.

With a member of staff recently being promoted to the Senior Leadership Team the school are looking to recruit a Religious Education teacher that has experience delivering Religious Education to students aged 11-16 at GCSE level.

Whilst this is a Religious Education teaching role it has been highlighted by the Deputy Headteacher that it will be beneficial if applicants are able to teach/cover other areas within the schools Humanities department.

Employment is being offered on a 12 month basis however there will be a view to secure a permanent position beyond this following the successful completion of the initial period.

The successful candidate will be someone who can inspire learning amongst students and can teach engaging lessons in order to keep students engaged, whilst creating enthusiasm amongst pupils for Religious Education. Applicants wishing to apply will have extensive subject knowledge and set high expectations from their pupils and what they are able to achieve during the course of the year.

The Humanities department firmly believe in building good relationships with students and hold a commitment to providing a positive learning environment where both teachers and students can achieve.

Found on the outskirts of the Wigan LEA, this school boarders Leigh town centre and is easily accessible from the surrounding areas; Wigan, Salford, Bolton and Manchester via the East Lancashire road. The school currently has around 950 pupils on roll, there are a average amount of EAL pupils on roll and those who are eligible for free school meals.
