Reading Recovery Teaching Assistant
Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
We are working in partnership with a client school in Duckinfield (SK16) to find an exceptional Teaching Assistant to support children with reading.
This is a lovely larger than average sized primary school which has been rated 'Good' by Ofsted. When you are in this school you are made to feel welcome and you can see how excited the children are to learn. Experience required in planning and delivering small grouped intervention sessions centred on reading development. You will be trained on the school's Reading Recovery Programme.
You will be working in KS1 and KS2. The successful candidate will be one who has experience working within key stage 1 and someone who can use their own initiative to raise standards in reading. Through your interventions the school hopes to increase children's motivation to read and the enjoyment they get from reading.
On a daily basis you will be working with 5-10 children aged 5-7 years. These children are mainly working at lower than expected age related levels for reading. There are some behavioural needs in the two classes and so it is important that you can use a range of strategies to ensure poor behaviour does not impact on learning and the development of the children's reading.
In order to apply for this role, you must have the following;
- An accredited Level 3 qualification in Teaching and Learning in Schools.
- Prior experience in a KS1 class, supporting children with additional needs or with Reading.
- A Child Workforce DBS on the update service.
- GCSE C or above in Maths and English
The School have also specified that it would be preferable to have the following;
- Prior experience in delivering small grouped Reading interventions.
- Experience working alongside children with challenging behaviour and special educational needs.
