Job description

Start Date: Autumn Term, October 2025
Location: Crosby
Agency: Teaching Personnel

We are looking for a dedicated Reading Support Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Crosby this autumn term. This role focuses on delivering small group and 1:1 reading support and intervention, helping pupils improve their literacy skills and confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted reading interventions to small groups and individual pupils
  • Support the development of phonics, fluency, and comprehension
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to tailor support to pupil needs
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
  • Experience supporting children in an educational setting
  • Knowledge of phonics programmes such as Read Write Inc. or Letters and Sounds is highly desirable
  • A valid DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one

  • Patient, enthusiastic, and reliable
  • Able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Committed to supporting children’s progress throughout the autumn term

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
