Qualified Teaching Assistants – Primary Schools
Locations: Sefton, St Helens, and Wirral
Start date: October 2026 and January 2027
Hours: Full-time and part-time opportunities
Contract types: Day-to-day supply, long-term temporary and permanent
Pay: £14.25 p/h to £16.77 p/h, depending on experience and assignment etc

Teaching Personnel’s Liverpool Primary team is recruiting experienced Level 2, Level 3, HLTA and SEN Teaching Assistants for primary schools across Sefton, St Helens and The Wirral.
We have a mixture of immediate, short-term and long-term/permanent opportunities available. Whether you want the consistency of a longer placement or the flexibility of supply work, we will take the time to understand the type of setting, year group and timetable that suits you.

- Level 3 EYFS Teaching Assistant – Sefton
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant – Wirral & St Helens
- SEN Teaching Assistant – St Helens & Sefton
- KS1 General Teaching Assistant – St Helens
- KS1 General Teaching Assistant – Sefton
New primary vacancies are also coming into the branch regularly, including classroom support, intervention and 1:1 roles.
What could your role involve?
Depending on your experience and preferred setting, your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting teaching and learning across EYFS, KS1 or KS2
- Working with children individually or in small groups
- Providing 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs
- Supporting children with autism, ADHD, communication needs or SEMH
- Delivering phonics, reading, writing or maths interventions
- Helping pupils access learning and develop their independence
- Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team
- Providing feedback on pupil engagement, progress and support needs
- Creating a safe, encouraging and inclusive learning environment
What we are looking for
We would love to hear from applicants who have:
- A recognised Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or an equivalent education or childcare qualification
- Recent experience working with children in a primary school or relevant educational setting
- A patient, reliable and proactive approach
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- The confidence to support children individually and in groups
- A genuine commitment to helping children engage, progress and feel included
For our specialist SEN positions, experience supporting children with additional needs is highly desirable. This might include autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, sensory needs or challenging behaviour.
