Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant
Teaching Personnel is excited to offer an excellent opportunity for a Psychology Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time role begins in March and continues until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the position to become permanent based on performance.
About the Role:
This position is perfect for a psychology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience working with young people in an educational setting. It is particularly well-suited for individuals aspiring to a career in educational psychology, teaching, or mental health support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support for students, particularly those with additional needs such as autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) difficulties, or other special educational needs (SEN).
- Assist in implementing strategies to help students manage emotions, develop resilience, and build self-confidence.
- Work closely with classroom teachers to support lesson delivery, ensuring all students can engage effectively with the curriculum.
- Contribute to the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) by offering insights into student progress and needs.
- Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters emotional well-being and academic achievement.
- Support students in accessing learning resources, participating in activities, and overcoming barriers to success.
- Assist in monitoring and assessing student progress, providing feedback to the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and teachers.
- Collaborate with external agencies and parents to ensure comprehensive support for students' development.

- Hold a degree in Psychology or a related field.
- Have a keen interest in child development, mental health, and education.
- Be empathetic, patient, and passionate about supporting young people.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Prior experience working with children or young people, particularly those with additional needs, is desirable but not essential.
