Psychology Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Camberley, Surrey
Contract: Full-time, term-time
Start date: September 2026
Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain valuable, hands-on experience supporting children and young people with special educational needs?
We are seeking enthusiastic, compassionate and resilient Psychology Graduate SEN Teaching Assistants to join schools across Camberley. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates looking to gain practical experience before pursuing a career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Child Psychology, SEN teaching, Speech and Language Therapy or another child-focused profession.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support with their learning, behaviour, communication or emotional development.
You may support pupils with needs including autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), learning difficulties and communication needs.
Your responsibilities may include:

Providing 1:1 and small-group support
-
Helping pupils access the curriculum and overcome barriers to learning
-
Supporting children's academic, social and emotional development
-
Encouraging confidence, independence and positive behaviour
-
Helping pupils develop emotional-regulation and coping strategies
-
Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
-
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other education professionals
-
Creating a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment

We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:

A 2:1 or above Psychology degree (or equivalent)

A genuine interest in working with children and young people

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Patience, empathy and resilience

A proactive and positive approach

The ability to remain calm and consistent when faced with challenging situations

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential
