Psychology Graduates Wanted in SEN Support Roles Across Durham
Just finished your Psychology degree and not sure what's next? Want to actually use what you've learned while figuring out your career path?
Teaching Personnel works with some brilliant schools across Durham - mainstream and specialist - and right now they're looking for Psychology graduates to support students with additional needs. If you're thinking about Educational Psychology, teaching, counselling, or just want meaningful work while you decide, this could be perfect.
What you'll be doing:
- Working directly with students who have Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning differences
- Supporting individuals and small groups to access learning
- Helping implement behaviour plans and supporting emotional regulation
- Using your psychology knowledge to understand what's beneath challenging behaviour
- Assisting teachers to adapt lessons for different learners
Why this role works: You get paid while gaining the kind of experience universities can't teach. Full-time hours, proper training included, and access to hundreds of CPD courses focused on SEN. Plus it's a genuine stepping stone - many of our graduates go on to postgrad programmes with solid school experience already under their belt.
You'll fit in if you have:
- A Psychology degree (or something related)
- Patience without being patronising
- Genuine interest in the "why" behind behaviour
- Willingness to learn (experience with kids helps but isn't essential)
Starting: January 2026
Location: Durham (we'll match you with the right setting)
Pay: Competitive daily rate, paid weekly

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
