Job description

Primary SEMH Teacher – Southampton

A specialist primary school in Southampton is seeking a dedicated Primary SEMH Teacher to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator to make a real difference in the lives of children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The school is set within beautiful grounds and benefits from large, open spaces designed to support creative and flexible teaching approaches. A strong and experienced Leadership and Support Team (LST) underpins the school’s commitment to providing a high-quality education for all pupils, within a positive and inclusive learning environment.

About the Role:

  • Full-time or minimum of four days per week

  • Initially employed through Teaching Personnel, with a transition to a permanent school contract

  • Delivering engaging, tailored lessons that support SEMH pupils academically and emotionally

  • Promoting a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom culture

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential

  • Ideally, experience in a specialist provision or working with children with SEMH needs

  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills

  • A patient, resilient, and compassionate teaching style

Salary and Benefits:

  • Pay in line with teacher pay scale

  • SEND allowance offered in addition

  • Long-term role with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
