Maternity Cover – KS2 Teacher (Fixed-Term)

We’re seeking a nurturing and proactive KS2 Teaching Assistant to join our team for a maternity cover position, supporting across Key Stage 2. This is a unique opportunity to join a well-established classroom team and help maintain consistency and progress during a period of staff absence.

About the Role:

This role is ideal for someone who is confident delivering tailored support, particularly in literacy and reading interventions, and is passionate about helping children gain confidence and independence in their learning.

You will:

  • Work alongside the class teacher to support individuals and small groups in Y5/Y6

  • Deliver targeted interventions in reading, writing and SPaG

  • Support children with additional needs, including SEMH or mild learning difficulties

  • Help to maintain a calm, inclusive, and focused classroom environment

  • Be ready to step in and adapt to the needs of the class on a day-to-day basis

You’ll Need:

  • A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification

  • Experience supporting KS2 pupils, ideally in upper key stage

  • Confidence delivering or supporting structured intervention programmes

  • A calm, consistent and professional approach

  • The ability to build strong relationships with children and staff quickly

  • A strong understanding of safeguarding practices and a commitment to promoting pupil wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
