Role and Responsibilities: As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students with diverse learning needs at our client school in WF5. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one support to children with special needs, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Assisting the class teacher in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and making appropriate adjustments to the curriculum.
- Ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of pupils during school hours.
- Collaborating with the teaching staff and other professionals to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Adapting learning materials and resources to cater to the specific needs of individual students.
- Encouraging and promoting children’s independence, self-confidence, and social skills.
- Assisting with classroom management and behaviour support strategies.
- Recording and monitoring progress on a daily basis.
- Assisting with any administrative tasks related to the role.
Requirements:
- Relevant experience in working with children or young adults with special educational needs is desirable.
- A compassionate and patient nature with a genuine interest in helping pupils overcome challenges.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to cater to the varying needs of students.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Ideally, you hold a recognized qualification in special needs education, but this is not essential.
