Primary SEN Teaching Assistant - Full Time

Teaching personnel are working alongside a SEN Provision in Newcastle (NE8) are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support KS1 - KS2 with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities to develop their communication, independence and employability skills to make a successful transition.

You will be expected to work Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 16:30 and a 30 minute break.  

The ideal Candidate should have the relevant experience and must be passionate when caring for others and is confident when managing challenging behaviours

Duties and responsibilities

• Provide support under the direction and supervision of teaching staff to assist pupils to access the curriculum and participate fully in school activities
• Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, providing feedback to the teacher on pupil progress
• Support the teacher in behaviour management and keeping pupils on task based on the expectations for individual pupils
• Provide support for pupils with challenging behaviour taking account of support plans and risk assessments under the direct supervision of a teacher

A successful candidate must provide the following

• Must an enhanced child and adult DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply for one
• Patient and Reliable
• Must have experience working acorss KS1 - KS2
• Experience working with people with SEN / Disabilities
• Be confident supporting children and young people
• Worked as a Care / Support worker

This role is available from January and required until the end of the academic year with the potential of being extended. Due to the role being required on a long term basis, we are able to negotiate your daily rate on your behalf, starting from £11.83 per hour.
