About the Role
Our client, a thriving and inclusive all-through school and sixth form in Newham, is currently seeking to appoint a dedicated Primary SEN Teacher. This is an excellent opportunity to join a passionate and supportive team committed to delivering high-quality education for pupils with additional needs.

The successful candidate will contribute to the implementation and delivery of a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum, identifying and applying the most effective teaching approaches for pupils with SEN. They will play a pivotal role in supporting children’s development and progress, helping each pupil achieve their full potential in a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Main Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in line with the primary curriculum and individual student needs

• Monitor and support the overall progress and development of pupils with SEN, ensuring learning is accessible and impactful

• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with students, colleagues, and families

• Implement strategies recommended by multi-disciplinary professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists

• Support behaviour management strategies and contribute to a positive learning culture

• Track pupil progress and use data effectively to inform planning and teaching

• Promote a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that supports pupil wellbeing and independence

• Contribute to whole-school development and the school’s wider SEN strategy

What They Are Looking For
The successful candidate will:

• Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree

• Have successful experience of teaching the primary curriculum

• Demonstrate recent and effective practice in mixed ability classes including provision for pupils with high-level SEN

• Have a good understanding of child development and how SEN impacts learning and progress

• Have experience working with students with ASD, SLCN, and complex cognitive needs

• Be confident in managing behaviour in accordance with whole school policies

• Have experience collaborating with and applying advice from external professionals including SALTs and OTs

• Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a proactive, reflective approach to teaching and professional development
