Teaching Personnel is recruiting for a full-time SEMH Behaviour Support Assistant in Salford, with an immediate start available.

This specialist provision supports primary aged pupils with SEMH needs, including those who may have experienced trauma, behavioural difficulties, and barriers to learning. The school offers a structured, nurturing environment focused on emotional wellbeing, behaviour management, and re-engagement with education.

With small class sizes and high staff-to-student ratios, the school provides tailored support to help students build confidence, resilience, and key life skills.


✅ Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH and behavioural needs
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies and positive reinforcement
  • Support pupils in developing social and emotional regulation skills
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and maintaining classroom focus
  • Confidently de-escalate challenging situations in a calm and consistent manner
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and pastoral teams
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience supporting SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviour (education, care, youth work, or similar settings)
  • Proactive, confident, and resilient approach
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students
  • Passion for supporting vulnerable young people
  • Flexible, adaptable, and a strong team player
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Psychology, Education, Youth Work) are desirable
