Key Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-planned lessons and learning activities across the primary curriculum, adapting content to suit individual learning and emotional needs
- Take responsibility for whole-class supervision during short-term teacher absence, ensuring continuity of learning
- Lead and deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions focusing on:
- Literacy and numeracy catch-up
- Emotional regulation and wellbeing
- Social communication and life skills

- Support pupils with highly dysregulated behaviour, using trauma-informed approaches, de-escalation strategies, and restorative practices
- Act as a consistent, positive role model, supporting pupils to build trust, resilience, and self-esteem
- Accurately monitor, record, and report on pupil progress and behaviour
- Contribute to a safe, calm, and nurturing learning environment that promotes emotional and behavioural regulation
- Uphold safeguarding procedures and maintain high standards of care and professionalism
Requirements
- HLTA qualification (or equivalent Level 4 qualification) – essential
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour, ideally in a PRU, SEMH school, or specialist setting
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and behaviour management strategies
- A calm, resilient, and proactive approach
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Teaching Personnel
What Teaching Personnel Can Offer
- A full-time, long-term role, with the potential to become permanent
- Competitive weekly pay paid via PAYE
- Support from a dedicated SEN specialist consultant
- Access to ongoing CPD, including SEMH, safeguarding, and behaviour training
