Teaching Personnel are working with a number of clients across Nottinghamshire who require Teaching Assistants who specialise in working with young people who have Severe Learning Difficulties and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties.

Responsibilities will include:

- Working as a general support assistant with a variety of pupils, in addition to being assigned to work on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis with specific students.

- Ensure a high standard of personal care for each student, including matters of physical wellbeing and personal hygiene

- To ensure the safety of Students and other staff at all times.

- Contribute and adhere to student behaviour management strategies.

The ideal candidate will be:

- Minimum of one year’s previous experience of working with young people who have severe learning difficulties and who present with challenging behaviour.

- Excellent people skills – able to liaise with a variety of school staff, students and professionals

- Willing to undertake personal care requirements including toileting, feeding and changing

- Trained in manual handling and confident to use equipment e.g. wheelchairs, frames and hoists.

- The ability to work under pressure in challenging circumstances

- The ability to work on ones own initiative and as part of a committed team

- Good time management and personal organisation

- Ideally a driver with a valid current driving licence and a car

- Level 3 qualified (desirable but NOT essential)

- Any additional training is desirable e.g. Tracheostomy/Medication/Epilepsy/PEG Feeding, however this is NOT essential.
