A warm, inclusive Special Educational Needs school is seeking a compassionate and committed PMLD Support Worker to join their specialist team supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD).

This is not a teaching role — it is a hands-on, holistic support position working closely with learners who have significant physical, sensory, and cognitive needs.

About the Role

You will be supporting pupils aged 2–19 with complex needs, including:

  • Profound cognitive learning needs

  • Complex medical needs

  • Sensory impairments

  • Physical disabilities requiring mobility support

Daily duties include:

✨ Providing personal care, toileting, feeding, and hygiene support
✨ Assisting with hoisting, positioning, and mobility (Moving & Handling)
✨ Supporting engagement in sensory learning and therapeutic activities
✨ Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and healthcare assistants
✨ Communicating through symbols, switches, sensory cues, or eye-gaze systems
✨ Creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment

Ideal Candidate

You do not need teaching experience — but you should be:

  • Empathetic, patient and confident supporting complex needs

  • Experienced in care, SEN, residential, or health support settings

  • Trained in Moving & Handling (or willing to train)

  • Comfortable with personal care every day

  • A team player who can follow therapeutic plans

  • DBS on the Update Service or willing to apply

  • UK driving licence is desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
