Job Opportunity: Secondary PE Teacher – Short-Term Contract with Long-Term Potential

Location: Newport, South Wales 
Start Date: Immediate 
Contract Type: Short-term until Summer (Potential for Permanent Role in September)
Employer: Teaching Personnel (on behalf of a partner secondary academy)

Are you a passionate and motivated Physical Education (PE) Teacher looking to make a real impact in a secondary school setting? We are seeking a dynamic and inspiring PE teacher to join one of our partner academy schools on a short-term contract through the end of the summer term—with strong potential for a permanent role starting in September.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to bring energy, leadership, and commitment to a school that is deeply focused on student achievement and staff development.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive PE lessons across KS3 and KS4

  • Promote physical health, well-being, and team spirit through sport

  • Plan and teach structured lessons to students of all abilities

  • Monitor and assess student progress using a range of methods

  • Manage classroom behavior to maintain a positive learning environment

  • Support whole-school and departmental initiatives to raise achievement

  • Fulfill the role of Form Tutor, providing pastoral care and guidance

  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and school leadership


About You

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Strong subject knowledge in Physical Education

  • Excellent classroom management and behavior strategies

  • A passion for motivating and inspiring students to reach their potential

  • A team player who values collaboration and continuous improvement

  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
