As a Teaching Assistant at this school, you will be working with young people between the ages of 4-19 with  complex needs, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The majority of pupils have substantial global developmental delay, emergent communication skills and are highly dependent. Some have additional disabilities including cerebral palsy, sensory impairment, and/or complex needs including challenging behaviour.

You will work under the instruction of teaching staff to support the delivery of quality learning and teaching of pupils with special educational needs. You may be asked to supervise specified work with individuals on a 1:1 basis or in small groups under the direction and supervision of a qualified teacher.

You will be able to encourage the participation of pupils in the social and academic processes of the school, and enable pupils to become more independent learners. There is some personal care involved with this role.

To be considered for this role, it is essential you have:

-          Experience working with children or adults with special needs, we are also able to consider applicants with personal experience

-          Experience with personal care or be willing to learn

-          A calm and confident personality

-          A flexible and adaptable approach to work

This is a part time position, working Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays between 08:50 – 15:35. Term time only

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
