Job description

We’re looking for a caring and motivated Nursery Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the CF24 area of Cardiff. This is a lovely opportunity to become part of a close-knit school community that truly values its staff and creates a positive, nurturing environment for every child. If you’re someone who enjoys helping young children learn through play, curiosity, and creativity, this could be the perfect next step for you.

About the Role:
This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm during term time. You’ll be supporting the nursery class teacher in creating a warm, engaging, and stimulating environment where children can learn, explore, and grow. The role involves working closely with small groups and individual pupils, supporting early language, literacy, and play-based learning, as well as assisting with daily routines, personal care, and classroom organisation.

The successful candidate will be hands-on, confident, and enthusiastic, with a real passion for supporting children in their formative years. You’ll need to be able to build positive relationships, follow instructions while using your own initiative, and maintain structure and boundaries within a busy and lively classroom.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A relevant Nursery or Early Years qualification (Level 2 or above preferred), or substantial hands-on experience within a nursery or early years setting.

  • A proactive, engaging, and confident approach, able to adapt quickly and contribute from day one.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a supportive, dedicated team.

  • A genuine passion for helping young children learn, develop, and thrive.

  • An understanding of early childhood development, play-based learning, and safeguarding.

  • Reliability, warmth, and professionalism at all times.

Why Apply?

  • Fantastic opportunity to become part of a friendly, inclusive, and supportive primary school community.

  • Excellent public transport links and on-site parking available.

  • Potential for a long-term position or school contract for the right person.

  • A setting that values faith, care, and respect, making it an ideal environment for someone who shares these values — particularly suited to those with a Catholic background or understanding of Catholic ethos.

  • A chance to make a real impact in the early stages of a child’s education while growing professionally in a positive school environment.

If you’re an experienced Nursery Assistant or Early Years Practitioner ready to hit the ground running, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now to join a school that’s as dedicated to its staff as it is to its pupils.
