Mental Health Support Worker – Scarborough
Full-Time | Term-Time Only | Immediate Start Available
Pay: £90 – £100 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)

Teaching Personnel is working closely with a partner secondary school in Scarborough, who are seeking a Mental Health Support Worker to provide vital 1:1 and small group support to students struggling with anxiety, trauma, and other mental health-related needs. This is a full-time, term-time role starting as soon as possible.
Key responsibilities include:

Supporting students with SEMH needs in and out of the classroom

Working closely with the SENCo and pastoral team to create tailored intervention plans

Promoting positive mental health and emotional regulation strategies

Building trusting relationships with pupils to foster engagement and resilience

Assisting in developing and implementing behaviour support plans where appropriate
The ideal candidate will:

Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (in a school, care, or youth work setting)

Possess strong communication, empathy, and de-escalation skills
-
Be resilient, proactive, and patient in challenging situations
-
Hold relevant qualifications or training in mental health support, counselling, or psychology (desirable but not essential)

Be confident working collaboratively within a school setting

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
