Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Maths Teacher to join an educational establishment in Reading, Berkshire on a temporary basis. The successful candidate delivers high-quality mathematics lessons, supports student development, and contributes to the wider school community. This role involves planning and delivering engaging lessons that meet curriculum requirements and cater to the diverse needs of students.

Job Duties

  • Plan, prepare and deliver mathematics lessons in accordance with the national curriculum and school policies.
  • Assess and monitor students’ progress, providing constructive feedback to support their learning.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and discipline.
  • Develop and implement appropriate teaching resources and materials to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments and behaviour.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and senior staff to contribute to curriculum development and school initiatives.
  • Support students’ personal and academic development through mentoring and additional support where needed.
  • Adhere to safeguarding policies and promote the welfare of all students.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions and professional development activities as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • GCSE or equivalent qualifications in Mathematics and English at grade C/4 or above.

Education

  • A degree in Mathematics or a related discipline.
  • Completion of a recognised teacher training programme.

Experience

  • Previous experience teaching mathematics at secondary school level.
  • Experience in planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to different ability levels.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
