Our client secondary school is looking for an effective Maths teacher to join them in September to cover an upcoming maternity leave. This inner city Manchester based secondary school is highly supportive of all staff and is part of a local multi academy trust which is particularly reputable in the Manchester area. The successful Maths teacher should have strong behaviour management skills and an effective presence in the classroom having the ability to engage students of all backgrounds and abilities in this diverse mixed secondary school.

The successful Mathematician is required on a full time basis starting in September and will be expected to take on all planning and marking responsibilities as well as any additional inter-departmental responsibilities as part of this year long maternity cover. Applications are being accepted and encouraged from Maths teachers of all experience levels including those that are due to graduate from a PGCE or teacher training programme in the coming month or two. The school will be looking to formally interview and observe Mathematics applicants following the half term break in June.

Key aspects of this Maths teaching position:

  • Full time Maths teacher required: January - July 2019
  • Pay dependent and in line with the new 2019/2020 payscale: £23,720 - £39,406
  • To cover a maternity leave in the first instance for the duration of the 2019 - 2020 academic year
  • Opportunity to progress onto a school based contract for the maternity cover
  • Teach within a successful and reputable multi academy trust of choice in the Manchester area
  • Full teaching timetable: planning and marking responsibilities expected

This secondary school is situated in the central Manchester area, a short walk away from the local metrolink stop. The school is housed in a relatively new building with the latest facilities including a fully equipped Maths department with smart boards in each classroom and working space including app based tablets.

Given the school's location in the inner city area, effective behaviour management strategies are a must for the successful Maths teacher. The school is extremely supportive with a fully staffed internal pastoral team who support across all subjects especially Maths (Science and English). The school is reputable and as a result of hard work and dedication from all staff at the school, they have become a positive pillar of the local community. They are looking for a Maths teacher that can uphold this status and continue in the push towards becoming an outstanding secondary school.
