Maths Teacher – Maternity Cover (All Girls’ Secondary School, Liverpool)

Contract: Full-Time, Maternity Cover
Start Date: After the Easter Holidays
Location: Liverpool (All Girls’ Secondary School)

An established and well‑regarded all girls’ secondary school in the Liverpool area is looking to appoint a dedicated and fully qualified Maths Teacher for a maternity cover position beginning after the Easter break. The school offers a calm, supportive, and nurturing learning environment and has been praised in its Good Ofsted report for its strong academic standards, excellent behaviour, and the positive attitudes of its pupils.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Maths specialist who can deliver engaging lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, helping students thrive and achieve their very best.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver inspiring, high‑quality Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Support students in making strong progress, maintaining high expectations around behaviour, engagement, and achievement.
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies consistent with the school’s culture of respect and positive conduct.
  • Regularly assess and monitor student work, providing constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively within the Maths department to develop resources and uphold high academic standards.
  • Contribute to a school ethos centred on wellbeing, inclusion, and academic ambition.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Maths at Key Stage 4.
  • Strong subject knowledge with the ability to communicate mathematical concepts clearly and confidently.
  • Effective behaviour management and a commitment to maintaining a purposeful classroom environment.
  • A passion for empowering young women to achieve success and confidence in Mathematics.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working within an all girls’ secondary school.
  • Understanding of GCSE Maths specifications, assessment criteria, and exam preparation.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
