Job description

Maths Teacher – Secondary SEMH School

Location: Blackburn
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm
Contract: Full-time, long-term with potential for a permanent role

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Maths Teacher to work in a Secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Blackburn. This is a full-time, long-term position with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract for the right candidate.

The Role:

  • Deliver engaging and appropriately differentiated Maths lessons to secondary-aged pupils

  • Support students with SEMH needs in a structured and nurturing learning environment

  • Demonstrate strong and consistent behaviour management

  • Build positive relationships with pupils who may present challenging behaviour

  • Work closely with support staff, SEN teams, and senior leadership

  • Promote both academic progress and emotional development

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has strong behaviour management skills (essential)

  • Has experience working with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviour (highly desirable)

  • Holds QTS or a relevant teaching qualification, or has substantial experience in a similar setting

  • Is calm, patient, resilient, and consistent

  • Is passionate about making a positive difference in young people’s lives

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
