Makaton Teaching Assistant – Primary School, Seaforth 

Location: Seaforth, Merseyside
Role Type: Full-time, Temp-to-Perm
Start Date: December 2025

Are you passionate about supporting children with communication needs? Do you have experience using Makaton and want to make a real difference in a child's educational journey?

We’re working with a welcoming primary school in Seaforth seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with speech and language difficulties. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, offering long-term stability and the chance to become a valued member of the school community.

The Role:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with communication needs using Makaton.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored learning strategies.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor progress and adapt support as needed.

Requirements:

  • Experience using Makaton (formal training or practical experience).
  • Previous experience in a primary school or SEN setting is desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
