Learning Support Assistant – Specialist Resource Base

They are seeking enthusiastic, proactive, and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to join a dedicated team at a specialist Resource Base. Here, both staff and students are welcoming, and strong relationships form the foundation of everything they do. The provision supports young people aged 16–25, all of whom have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and require personalised support to achieve their learning, social, and independence goals.


About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students build essential life skills and confidence. Your work will extend beyond the classroom, combining practical support with social and emotional guidance. You will:

  • Support students with everyday life skills including meal preparation, shopping, managing money, washing clothes, and bed making
  • Provide personal care with dignity, sensitivity, and respect
  • Facilitate off-site learning opportunities such as community visits and local trips
  • Help students make the most of our sensory room, supporting emotional regulation, calm, and communication
  • Celebrate achievements, encourage engagement, and work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and families to meet EHCP targets

  • Have experience supporting learners with PMLD and complex needs

  • Work effectively as part of a team while also showing initiative

Essential Requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
  • Experience supporting learners with PMLD / complex needs
  • Experience providing personal care

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
