An amazing secondary school based in Walthamstow are committed to providing a supportive learning environment for pupils with a range of special educational needs. The school cater to students with autism across KS3 and KS4; they have a specialist PMLD unit to which they cater to students with physical disabilities.

They are currently looking to appoint a teaching assistant to provide 1:1 support for a high functioning 16 year old autistic boy. This particular student displays challenging behaviour often in physical outbursts and does need support in personal care.

*Immediate start*

*Manual handling training would be advantageous for securing this role but is not a requirement*

Ideal attributes:

  • Motivate young pupils in their education
  • Effective team player and be able to support both teaching staff and support staff in the classroom
  • Resilient in working with challenging behaviour and has a positive attitude
  • Outgoing personality and is able to use their own initiative when needed
