Learning Support Assistant – SEN & SEMH Support
Southampton & Surrounding Areas | £13.75 per hour | Term Time Only

Teaching Personnel is seeking committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to work in a variety of SEN and SEMH settings across the Southampton area. You’ll be supporting children and young people aged 4–19 with a range of needs—including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
Whether you’re experienced in education or looking to begin a career in support work, full training and ongoing development will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:

Support pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis across a range of subjects and activities

Assist class teachers in delivering engaging, inclusive lessons

Help manage challenging behaviours in a calm, positive, and supportive way
-
Encourage independence, communication, and social development

Promote a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
What We’re Looking For:
-
Passion for working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH needs
-
Patient, empathetic, and confident in working with challenging behaviours
-
Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
-
Previous experience in education, care, or youth work is an advantage (but not essential)

Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check (or already on the Update Service)
The Details:

Pay: £13.75 per hour (paid weekly via PAYE)
-
Hours: Full-time and part-time roles available (approx. 8:30am – 3:30pm)

Contract: Term Time Only (38 weeks per year)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
