A specialist SEN school in Basingstoke is seeking a dedicated and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join its team on a term-time only basis. The school supports pupils aged 4 to 19 with a variety of special educational needs, including autism spectrum conditions, communication and language difficulties, and complex learning needs.

This position is ideally suited to individuals with a genuine interest in supporting pupils with additional needs. Experience within SEN settings is desirable, though not essential, as training and guidance will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide targeted academic and emotional support to pupils with SEN, both on a one-to-one basis and in small group settings.

• Assist with the delivery of personalised learning programmes and support the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

• Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment that encourages pupil engagement and progress.

• Collaborate effectively with teaching staff, therapists, and support teams.

• Provide personal care and mobility assistance where required, in accordance with school policies.

Candidate Requirements:

• Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly in SEN or education settings, is desirable.

• A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting children with diverse needs.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.

• Willingness to undergo relevant training and development.
