Learning Support Assistant – Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Location: Basingstoke
Hourly Rate: £13.75
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, Term Time Only
Contract Type: Temporary (with potential for long-term or permanent opportunities)

A specialist SEN school in Basingstoke is seeking a dedicated and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join its team on a term-time only basis. The school supports pupils aged 4 to 19 with a variety of special educational needs, including autism spectrum conditions, communication and language difficulties, and complex learning needs.
This position is ideally suited to individuals with a genuine interest in supporting pupils with additional needs. Experience within SEN settings is desirable, though not essential, as training and guidance will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide targeted academic and emotional support to pupils with SEN, both on a one-to-one basis and in small group settings.

Assist with the delivery of personalised learning programmes and support the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment that encourages pupil engagement and progress.

Collaborate effectively with teaching staff, therapists, and support teams.

Provide personal care and mobility assistance where required, in accordance with school policies.
Candidate Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly in SEN or education settings, is desirable.

A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting children with diverse needs.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.

Willingness to undergo relevant training and development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
