Job description

Have you recently qualified in Health and Social Care or Social Work?

Do you want to support children with additional needs?

Do you want to work within a specialised setting in an experienced team?

A number of special educational needs schools are currently looking for teaching assistants to join them on a full time basis from September. The schools cater for a variety of additional needs such as Autism, Learning Difficulties, Physical Difficulties and challenging behaviours which are a result of Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties.

We are looking for those with qualifications relevant to this role, such as a degree in Social Work or a Health and Social Care diploma. Many of our schools look to recruit those with experience from their placements of working with children or young adults, specifically those with additional needs. You will need to be confident working on both a small group and 1:1 basis as you may be required to deliver interventions within the school.

You will join a team that place young people at the heart of everything that the school does and you will be expected to commit to these values and support and encourage pupils to get the best from themselves.

Desirable qualities include:

  • A drive to help individuals reach their potential and maximises their chances of living a happy and fulfilled life
  • Flexibility and creativity in the delivery of the curriculum
  • High expectations of achievement

The schools we work with can offer:

  • A stable, caring and nurturing environment
  • Staff who will support you throughout your career
  • Continuous professional development

Experience in a school or care setting is an advantage, though the right attitude and personality is more important than formal qualifications.

If you would like to find out more or apply, please give me a call or email! Look forward to hearing from you!
