Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

SEN Secondary Schools – Southampton
£13.75 – £14.20 per hour (from 1st April)
Start Date: ASAP
Flexible working – Term time only, school hours

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to work in SEN secondary schools across Southampton.

This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs and making a positive difference in their education and wellbeing.

The Role:

  • Supporting students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including autism, ADHD, SEMH and moderate learning difficulties

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support within the classroom

  • Assisting teachers with differentiated learning activities

  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation

  • Helping to create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment

Compliance Requirements:

All applicants must either hold a valid Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS as part of the registration process. Full vetting checks will be completed in line with safeguarding standards.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children or young people (SEN experience desirable but not essential)

  • A calm, patient and resilient approach

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • A genuine interest in supporting students with additional needs

This role is available to start as soon as possible. Whether you are an experienced LSA, a graduate looking to gain school experience, or someone with transferable skills from youth or care work, we encourage you to apply.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
