 Ad-Hoc SEN Learning Support Assistant – Southampton 
Pay: £13.75 per hour

Teaching Personnel is looking for compassionate, flexible, and reliable Ad-Hoc SEN Learning Support Assistants to support pupils with Special Educational Needs across a range of primary and secondary settings in the Southampton area.

About the Role

You will provide tailored 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with a variety of additional needs, which may include:

  • Autism (ASC)

  • ADHD

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)

  • Speech, Language and Communication needs

  • Moderate/Specific Learning Difficulties

This is an ad-hoc position, ideal for candidates seeking flexible work, varied experience, and the opportunity to make a real impact on young people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils in accessing learning and adapting tasks where needed

  • Implement strategies recommended by teachers and SENCOs

  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour

  • Build supportive, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people (SEN experience desirable)

  • A calm, patient and nurturing approach

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Availability on short notice

  • A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
