Learning Support Assistant – Southampton

Contract – Part time and Full Time

Start date – January 2026

We are seeking caring, adaptable and proactive Learning Support Assistants to support a range of welcoming primary schools across Southampton. Working closely with our partner schools, you will play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing and progress within both classroom and small-group settings.

Who We’re Looking For

• Experience working with children in a school, nursery or learning environment
• A patient, nurturing and positive approach
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build quick rapport with pupils
• Confidence supporting learning across KS1 and/or KS2
• Ability to follow instructions from the class teacher and support classroom routines
• A genuine passion for helping children thrive academically and emotionally
• Reliability, professionalism and adaptability in new school environments

What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting pupils during lessons, ensuring they remain engaged and on task
• Providing tailored 1:1 or small-group support when required
• Assisting the class teacher with classroom organisation and learning activities
• Helping to create a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment
• Encouraging pupils’ confidence, independence and progress
• Following school policies, safeguarding procedures and daily routines

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
