Learning Support Assistant
Job description
Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant looking to make a real impact in the lives of young people with special educational needs?
We're seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive post-16 SEN provision in Plymouth. This rewarding role involves working 1:1 with young people aged 16 and over, helping them to build confidence, develop functional skills, and explore opportunities in further education, college, or apprenticeships.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide individualised support to learners aged 16+ with a range of special educational needs

Assist with the development and delivery of functional skills in Maths, English, and other life skills
-
Support students to integrate into further education or vocational pathways, including college and apprenticeship programmes

Monitor and record student progress and adapt support as needed

Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external providers
Requirements:
-
Minimum of 12 months experience in an educational setting, ideally with post-16 or SEN students
-
Strong understanding of SEN best practices, particularly for learners with EHCPs
-
Confident supporting learners on a 1:1 basis

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A proactive, empathetic, and student-centred approach
-
Relevant qualifications in education or support work (e.g., CACHE, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) are desirable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
