About Us

A primary school in Penarth is looking for a Learning Support Assistant for their ALN unit. The school is a warm, inclusive and forward-thinking primary school. They are committed to providing an inspiring and nurturing learning environment where every child is supported to achieve their full potential. They are now seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join their team.


The Role

As an ALN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with a range of additional learning needs across the school. Working closely with class teachers, the ALNCo, and other support staff, you will help create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning experience for all learners.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with ALN

Assist in implementing Individual Development Plans (IDPs)

✏️ Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual needs

Build positive relationships with pupils, encouraging confidence and independence

Support class teachers with planning, assessment and classroom organisation

Work collaboratively with the ALNCo and external agencies

Promote a safe, caring and inclusive environment


About You

We are looking for someone who is:

Patient, empathetic and committed to supporting children with diverse needs

️ A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills

Adaptable, proactive and able to use their initiative

Knowledgeable about ALN strategies and approaches (training can be provided)

‍ Experienced in a school setting (desirable but not essential)

Qualified to at least Level 2/3 in a relevant childcare or TA course (or working towards it)

-          Competitive weekly pay (£13.75 p/h) through our Pay as You Earn (PAYE) scheme. (No need to fill out timesheets either, we do that for you!)

-          Ongoing personal support from a dedicated Teaching Personnel consultant.

-          We will help you get everything you need to get started, including an Enhanced DBS & EWC Registration.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
