Learning Support Assistant in Paddington, Westminster, London

A lovely 1-form entry school in Paddington are currently looking for a graduate Learning Support Assistant (LSA).

The school has a specialist resource base for autism, where approximately 19 children are split in two different classes. The children range in ability from low-functioning and non-verbal, to children who may express severe cases of challenging behaviour.

The role will involve supporting children on both a 1:1 and small group basis. This will include delivering work focusing on Numeracy, Literacy, Social Skills and Communication. 50% of the work is set by the class Teacher, whilst the other half is an opportunity for you to create your own objectives with the child.

The school benefits from close transport links allowing children to experience out-of-the-classroom learning - from places such as: the Natural History Museum, Loftus Road, Regents Park and many more learning opportunities across London. There will also be an opportunity to part-take in extra-curricular activities in Sports, Music and more!

Shortlisting criteria include:

  • Experience working with ASC and/or other SEN
  • Ability to use PECS, Makaton or BSL is desirable but not essential
  • Willingness to be involved with extra-curricular activities
  • Passion for helping raise pupil attainment
