Learning Support Assistant
Location: Durham
Salary: £90 - £110 per day
Contract Type: Full Time
Teaching Personnel is recruiting an enthusiastic and skilled Advanced Learning Support Assistant to join our committed team, providing exceptional support to students with diverse learning requirements.
Position Overview: Working as a Learning Support Assistant, you'll collaborate with classroom teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to deliver individualized support strategies for specific learners. You'll offer focused academic, emotional, and behavioral assistance, contributing to improved achievement and positive educational outcomes across all year groups.
This fulfilling and varied position suits someone who takes initiative, excels in inclusive educational practices, and remains dedicated to enhancing opportunities for young people.
Core Duties
- Deliver individual and small group assistance for students with various SEND conditions, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning challenges
- Implement specialized interventions in reading, mathematics, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Support lesson planning and modify classroom tasks to ensure accessibility and participation for all students
- Track, evaluate, and document student development and conduct, providing updates to staff and families when required
- Collaborate with teaching personnel, therapists, and support teams to achieve EHCP objectives and individualized education plans
- Facilitate smooth transitions within school environments and between educational institutions
- Help create inclusive teaching materials and approaches
Candidate Requirements:
- Background supporting children or young people with additional learning needs, ideally within educational environments
- Relevant Level 3 or higher qualification (such as Supporting Teaching and Learning, Child Development, or similar)
- Excellent communication, relationship-building and behavior management capabilities
- Compassion, patience, and constructive, problem-solving mindset
- Flexibility to work autonomously and within multidisciplinary teams
- Clear knowledge of safeguarding and child protection protocols
Essential Requirements:
- Level 3 teaching/support qualification or equivalent
- Prior UK school experience (preferred)
- Enhanced Child Workforce DBS or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
