Specialist Teaching Assistant (EHCP Support)
Location: Blackpool
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: Dependent on experience and qualifications
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and proactive Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our supportive secondary school team in Blackpool. This rewarding role involves providing targeted support for two pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), helping them to access learning, develop independence, and thrive both academically and socially.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, the SENDCo, external professionals, and families to ensure the pupils receive consistent, high-quality support tailored to their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for two pupils with EHCPs across a range of subjects.
- Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, social interaction, and organisation where required.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive engagement in lessons.
- Implement strategies and interventions recommended by external professionals.
- Monitor progress and contribute to EHCP reviews and support plans.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers.
- Promote safeguarding, inclusion, and wellbeing at all times.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, ideally within a secondary school setting.
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
- Be confident managing behaviour positively and consistently.
- Have a good understanding of SEND, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, or communication needs.
- Work effectively as part of a team while also using initiative independently.
- Hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Relevant TA or SEND qualifications are desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
