Job Description

A specialist academy site in Basingstoke is seeking a committed and enthusiastic English Teacher to join their team on an initally temporary basis until Christmas. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a highly supportive environment with pupils who benefit from a personalised approach to learning.

About the School

  • All-through provision for pupils aged 5 to 16

  • Primary diagnosis of Autism, with associated SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs

  • Small class sizes with high staff-to-pupil ratios

  • Emphasis on structure, consistency, and strong relationships

  • Many pupils have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)

The Role

  • Teaching English to Key Stage 4 pupils

  • Some learners working towards GCSE level

  • Working as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team

  • Delivering creative, differentiated lessons to meet a wide range of needs

  • Building strong, positive relationships with pupils

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Experience teaching English at KS4 (GCSE experience desirable)

  • Experience working with pupils with Autism and/or SEMH needs

  • Adaptable, resilient, and nurturing teaching approach

  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion

Safeguarding Requirements

  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service – or willingness to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
