Job Advert: English Teacher – Alternative Provision (East Lancashire)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time
Salary: £31,650 - £43,606 per annum (dependent on experience)
Location: East Lancashire
We are seeking a passionate and fully qualified English Teacher to join a dedicated alternative provision setting in East Lancashire. This is a full-time position commencing in September 2025, teaching Key Stage 4 English to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to the needs of KS4 pupils with SEN and SEMH.
- Create a supportive and structured classroom environment that promotes learning and emotional well-being.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the varying academic and emotional needs of individual learners.
- Use assessment data effectively to inform planning and measure pupil progress.
- Work collaboratively with the wider staff team, parents/carers and external agencies to support pupil development.
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
Person Specification:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- Experience teaching English at KS4 level.
- Knowledge and understanding of SEN and SEMH needs.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils who may present with challenging behaviour.
- Resilience, empathy and a flexible approach to teaching.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
