Job Description:

Are you committed to making a positive impact in children’s lives? A well-respected and high-achieving primary school in Milton Keynes is seeking a dedicated KS1 Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs from September 2025.

The school is praised for its high standards, inclusive ethos, and pupils’ exemplary behaviour (Ofsted 2019). This role offers the opportunity to work closely with teachers and the SENDCo to implement tailored strategies that help children access learning, build confidence, and reach their full potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 in-class and pastoral support to pupils with SEND.
  • Implement strategies set by the teacher or SENDCo to meet individual learning outcomes.
  • Support pupil wellbeing and independence across classroom and playtime routines.
  • Assist with the preparation and organisation of activities and learning materials.
  • Provide feedback on pupil progress and engagement to the teaching team.
  • Contribute to a positive, consistent approach by working collaboratively with staff and specialists.

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children in KS1 or with additional needs (preferred but not essential).
  • A calm, caring, and patient approach, with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to follow guidance from teaching staff and external professionals.
  • Confidence supporting learning, behaviour, and personal care routines.
  • Enthusiasm for working with young children and helping them thrive.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, team collaboration, and continuous improvement.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
