Key Stage 2 (Year 6) Welsh-Medium Teaching Assistant – Cardiff

Location: Cardiff
Hours: 08:30 – 15:30 (Monday to Friday)
Pay: £89.38 per day (paid weekly)
Start Date: September 1st, 2025

Are you confident in supporting older primary pupils and fluent in Welsh? Teaching Personnel is recruiting a dedicated Year 6 Teaching Assistant to work in a Welsh-medium primary school in Cardiff, providing essential classroom support in the lead-up to the transition to secondary school.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a focused and vibrant class, supporting academic progress and emotional wellbeing during a crucial stage of their primary education.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Assisting the Year 6 class teacher with lessons, planning, and daily routines – all delivered through Welsh
• Providing tailored support for pupils preparing for end-of-year assessments and transition to high school
• Leading small group interventions in literacy, numeracy, and topic-based work
• Supporting pupil confidence, independence, and organisation as they prepare for secondary school
• Helping to maintain a positive, well-structured classroom environment

We’re Looking For Someone Who Is:

Fluent in Welsh (spoken and written – essential)
• Friendly, proactive, and reliable
• Confident working with older primary-age children (ages 10–11)
• Organised and able to support a structured learning approach
• Committed to full-time hours, Monday to Friday

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
